mike and i have not been as diligent as we had originally hoped with updating our blog. sorry about that! keeping up a blog takes some major discipline.

so..what have we been up to these days?

a couple weekends ago a few of my girlfriends and i flew to austin, texas to enjoy a weekend full of estrogen and good food. with the four of us living in different states/countries, it has not been easy to get together. it was a true blessing to spend some much needed quality time with my lovely gal pals.

here we are at gourdoughs. hands down our favorite place. their donuts are to DIE for!

this is called the hangover. can you believe there is a donut under all that?
another great spot was mighty cone on s. congress street. s. congress is full of fun, eclectic shops. after a day of shopping, we of course, stuffed our faces.

fried pickles anyone?
I wish I had taken more pictures from our trip..sigh..oh wells. it was a perfect weekend with some of my best-est friends. what more could a gal ask for?

you may be wondering what did mike do while i was away? don't worry i found him a sitter named justin. he was well cared for.

weddings...

first up, our friends jen and harvey tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at the omni hotel in washington, dc. that might be it for weddings for the next little while.

food...

our ivcf friends gifted us with a generous dc restaurant gift card and we finally got the chance to go eat at the popular oyamel Mexican tapas restaurant. it was a cool place but I think we may have ordered poorly. might have to try again in the future. the freshly made guacamole was a treat though!

we also treated ourself to custom-made burgers at the counter. applewood bacon anyone?

housework...

min's parents have a pretty big backyard surrounded by lots of huge trees. in the fall that means lots of raking. it was good to get out and help though. penny especially enjoyed romping around in the leaves.

museums...

dc never gets old for me. there is so much to see especially if you're into history or art. this time we joined some friends and checked out the national gallery of art and the national archives. the nga was cool because it houses the only da vinci painting in the western hemisphere, the ginevra de' benci.

another cool thing about this museum is the walkway connecting the western and eastern buildings. all of min's sci-fi fantasies came true walking through here.

as for the sabbatical, it's been really good. we set to get rest, reflect and discern. so far we have had ample time to do all of those things and we are grateful. the time is flying by but it doesn't feel rushed.

we are grateful for your thoughts and prayers as we continue journeying together during this sabbatical time.
